MINNIE Mouse is to wear a pantsuit for the first time ever as Stella McCartney gives her a whole new look for a special birthday.
The makeover is for the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, and will make its debut in the theme park during Women’s History Month, starting on March 6.
The transformation, revealed by Stella herself just now, is designed to make the character a thoroughly modern Minnie appealing to a new generation of fans.
Stella announcing the makeover
“I am delighted to be working with the one, the only, the iconic Minnie Mouse,” said Stella. “I have designed a custom outfit for her in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris.
“Minnie has always had a special place in my heart. We share the same values. What I love about Minnie is the fact that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity and that she inspires people of all ages around the world.
“Plus, she has such great style! I wanted Minnie to wear her very first pantsuit at Disneyland Paris.
“I’ve designed one of my iconic suits, a blue tuxedo – using responsibly sourced fabrics – offering a new take on her signature polka dots and making her a symbol of progress and empowerment for a new generation,” Stella added.
“She will wear it during Womens History Month. I can’t wait for you to see this new signature look at Walt Disney Studios Park.”
There’ll be a whole new range of more traditional costumes for the characters, too.
The new costumes are just one of many new attractions for the 30th anniversary, including a spectacular new night-time lights show using 200 drones for the first time in a Disney Park.
There’ll be new shows by day and by night, ten new ‘Gardens of Wonder’ featuring kinetic sculptures inspired by Disney and Pixar favourites, specially themed new pastry treats for foodies and selfie surprises.
The birthday celebrations will also include the much-anticipated opening of the Marvel Avengers Campus, with rides, meet and greets, exhibitions and themed food outlets this summer.
Super Heroes will gather at Avengers Campus, inviting guests to embark on a brand-new journey with of adventures and missions, extending the immersive experience that started with the opening of Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel in 2021.
