LOVING the first-look preview pictures of Dubai’s newest landmark destination hotel which suggest for all the world that the architects liked to play Jenga when they were kids.
Bookings open today for the 795-room Atlantis The Royal, where luxury suites and penthouses boast private infinity pools (pictured below) , inviting guests to swim amongst the clouds.
The 43-storey resort offers views out over the Palm Island, the largest jellyfish aquarium in the world, a water fountain show that breathes fire, and Heston Blumenthal’s debut bar, Resonance.
Leading designers, architects and artists have been recruited from all round the world to design the newcomer, which will open its doors to the first guests in January 2023.
The six towers making up Atlantis The Royal are linked by a 90-metre long Skypool on the 22nd floor (pictured above), which forms part of an outdoor entertainment experience called Cloud 22.
With VIP cabanas boasting private plunge pools, a swim up-bar and a glittering head-shaped DJ booth, the venue is expected to become an iconic entertainment and nightlife destination.
Seventeen restaurants include signature dishes from Gaston Acurio, Ariana Bundy, Costas Spiliadis and Jose Andres, while Nobu will be opening their first ever pool and beach club.
Blumenthal’s bar, by the way, will feature a 6.5m high jellyfish aquarium, housing 4,000 moon jellies, and serve up “meticulously crafted and complex” cocktails, food and theatre.
Guest rooms, meanwhile, are ‘connected’, allowing you to control thermostat, lighting, television and other amenities via mobile phone, and access streaming media and other accounts.
We’re promised a spectacular Grand Reveal in January with a star-studded line-up. Sister resort Atlantis The Palm opened in 2008 with A-listers including Robert DeNiro, Gerard Butler and Kylie.
“This is it,” says Tim Kelly, Managing Director of Atlantis Dubai . “Our moment is finally here to reveal Atlantis The Royal as the world’s most ultra-luxury entertainment resort.
“Openings of resorts like this one only come around once or twice in a decade, and we can’t wait to share it with the world. We are excited to begin welcoming guests next year.”
