LOVING the retro travel poster art being used to publicise this year’s Agatha Christie Festival taking place in the Queen of Crime’s hometown Torquay, in South Devon.
It runs from September 12 to 20, starting with a five-day Fringe Festival featuring fun and social events in unusual places, and then followed by a four-day Literary Festival.
Although the programme won’t be announced until the Spring, past events have attracted big names from film, TV and crime fiction, and tickets for main events sell quickly.

Among those appearing last year were authors Lucy Foley and Sophie Hannah, who continue the Christie legacy with new adventures for Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot.
TV producer and writer Chris Chibnall was there, too, talking about his debut mystery novel and his work adapting The Seven Dials Mystery, which premieres on Netflix this coming Thursday.
Others included Christie biographer Laura Thompson, a number of experts, and best-selling mystery writers such as Tom Hindle, Alex Michaelides, C.B. Everett and Janice Hallett.
There’s also an Agatha Christie Festival Spring Gathering on April 11 and 12. For more information on that, and to keep updated with news on the Festival proper, head over to the official website.
