Justin Bieber to headline historic Lucca Festival in Tuscany

CHART superstar Justin Bieber is to headline this year’s Lucca Summer Festival, which is staged in the splendid surrounds of the Tuscan city’s historic walls.

The month-long festival kicks off on June 26 with a line-up including Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, Liam Gallagher, Kasabian, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, John Legend and Ben Harper.

Bieber’s gig takes place on July 31 as part of his Justice World Tour, and is one of only a few European appearances this year by the Canadian superstar.

Lucca Summer Festival is a festival favourite on the music calendar and has previously hosted icons such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters and Ennio Morricone.

Such is the Italian event’s prestige that Celine Dion has already been confirmed for the 2023 incarnation.

But the A-list acts are matched by the festival’s stunning location. Lucca is one of the most photogenic cities in Tuscany, and is known as the ‘town of a hundred churches’.

Ringed by defensive walls that helped the city maintain independent city state status until 1847, it sits in the middle of the lovely Lucca Plain, dotted with medieval towns.

Italy’s Radio 105 will run an exclusive pre-sale from 9am GMT on Thursday February 24 via www.105.net. General ticket sales will open at 9am GMT on Saturday February 26.
