LOOKING for a break with a new angle? Then you might have a leaning towards Lincoln – because the city’s famous Crooked House is set to welcome guests as a holiday let later this year.
Dating back to the 16th century, and one of the city’s most photographed landmarks, the timber-framed building has been undergoing a £350,000 refurbishment, and work is close to completion.
It had fallen into a state of disrepair after standing empty but City of Lincoln Council, with Heritage Lincolnshire, has revealed the historic building will re-open as new holiday accommodation.

Tucked away on a cobbled Michaelgate, at the top of aptly named Steep Hill, with Lincoln Cathedral as a backdrop, the Grade II-listed house stands alongside a late 18th century house and shop.
Saved from demolition in the 1930s after it was discovered there was a timbered building behind the brick façade, the house was renovated and returned to its original style by Lincoln City Council.
Refurbishment is expected to be completed in May this year, thanks to funding for the project from the Architectural Heritage Fund, Investors in Lincoln and City of Lincoln Council.
