THIS is the Orient Express – but not as you know it. The world’s most iconic rail travel experience is undergoing a transformation, with a new look due to pull in at the platform in 2027.
The first preview of L’Orient Express Train 2027 – a ‘reinvention’ of 17 original carriages from the 1920s – was unveiled today ahead of an exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and it looks absolutely beautiful, in keeping with the train’s heritage.

The museum is running an exhibition entitled 1925–2025: A Century of Art Deco in partnership with Orient Express, from October 22 until April 26, 2026 and will showcase past, present and future.
New designs will go on show, alongside never before seen archive images, design sketches and blueprints tracing the train’s history, under the museum’s Nave.

Following in the footsteps of the grand designers of the past, architect and scenographer Maxime d’Angeac has drawn on the Italian Renaissance for inspiration to create living spaces for the 21st century.
Thirty master artisans – embroiderers, glassmakers, cabinetmakers, upholsterers, manufacturers, and specialist workshops – have contributed to the new look, which will be ready for L’Orient Express passengers in 2027.

It follows the introduction of sister service La Dolce Vita Orient Express in Italy this spring, and news that Orient Express Corinthian – the world’s largest sailing yacht – is undergoing construction and will set sail in 2026.
