IT’S a rare chance to see the sun rise over Batman’s Wayne Manor – or at least the beautiful British mansion that most recently stood in for the superhero’s secret lair on the big screen.
Early risers are being offered the opportunity to visit Burghley House and Gardens in Lincolnshire for a sunrise stroll before usual opening hours this coming Wednesday, May 14.

An exclusive guided walk with Burghley’s head gardener, Joe Whitehead, offers the chance to see the grand Estate at dawn and watch the sun rise over the Capability Brown-designed lake.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the Gardens in the stillness of dawn and, given good weather, treated to atmospheric views of the House, a stately pile dating back to the 16th century. Admission includes breakfast in the Orangery Restaurant after the dawn walk.

Burghley, just a mile from Stamford, was chosen as the double for Wayne Manor in DC Universe movie The Flash – pictured above – more about which you can read in my previous post here.
If you can’t make it out of bed early, then there’s a reverse fixture coming up from October 2 to 4 this year, when there’ll be a Burghley By Twilight event with after-hours admission.

Visitors will be able to walk through evocatively lit state rooms while classical musicians play and Prosecco will be served in both the Great Hall and the Old Kitchen.
Tickets for both special events are priced £30 a head. For the Dawn Walk head here, and for the Twilight special see here. There’s more info about the House and its attractions at burghley.co.uk
