WATCH this one like a hawk! The world’s tallest and longest launched wing coaster is taking flight this summer at Virginia’s Kings Dominion theme park after successful test runs.
Rapterra, at the Doswell family theme park, simulates the flight of the legendary Jungle Hawk with an intense initial launch, plunging dives, twisting manoeuvres and sweeping turns.
It stands up to 145 feet tall, hits 65mph within four seconds of launch, and boasts three inversions – a dive loop, flat spin corkscrew and 360° raptor roll – on its 3,086 feet run.
And all that in … 89 seconds.

There’s a backstory and pre-show, of course. Centuries ago, a shrine was built to honour the Jungle Hawk, and those who entered temporarily gained the bird’s powers and abilities.
Building the temple at the base of a volcano proved unfortunate, however. The ground collapsed, burying everything under mounds of volcanic rock, and the temple vanished.
Until, that is, archaeologists recently discovered the site, unleashing the bird’s ferocious spirit, launching brave riders to exhilarating new heights.
The ride completed its first test run last month, marking a significant milestone, and work continues to ensure the coaster is ready for its opening later in the year.
