FINALLY, wintry weather has arrived in the UK, and there’s a real chill in the air – but not, I think, as chilly as it might be in aptly named Iceland. All of which brought to mind this exquisite image shot by local guide Albert Armannsson.
It’s taken from a video Albert posted on Facebook back in May 2023 during a trip to the dazzling Diamond Beach, on the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, where icebergs float out at sea, and blocks of ice wash up on the shore, glistening like diamonds.
Albert, of course, is no stranger to regular readers, having first come to my attention when he ran virtual tours of Iceland, particularly the headline-grabbing volcanic eruptions, during pandemic lockdown on the now defunct Heygo platform.
Today, he remains a hugely popular guide, running in-person tours of his homeland. You can read about his previous exploits in the paulcoletravels archive here.
