THE world’s scariest diving competition heads to Game of Thrones country next week, with suitably spectacular new locations set to serve up adrenaline action.
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, which I’ve featured in the blog before, has added two new locations in Northern Ireland to a calendar which spans the globe.

Divers will first display their off-the-cliffs skills at both Kinbane Castle and the iconic ‘Lord’s Prayer’ cove, before moving on to specially constructed platforms at Ballycastle Harbour for the final two rounds.

From July 18 to 20, 12 men and 12 women from 13 countries will test their mettle, with the Northern Ireland stop promising to produce a winner who is “adaptable, versatile and resilient”.

The Causeway Coast’s dramatic cliffs and ragged rocks made it the ideal location for many scenes shot for Game of Thrones, the House of Dragons prequel to which is screening now.

Aiming for a hat-trick of wins in the women’s category is Rhiannan Iffland, while in the men’s, World Series leader James Lichtenstein is the only diver who has podiumed in all three competitions so far.
