IT’S the Japanese skyline that changes minute-by-minute and will have you not believing your own eyes. Welcome to the future at one of Tokyo’s most iconic buildings.
Because state-of-the-art projection mapping technology is being used to play havoc with the senses at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No 1 in Shinjuku.

As well as beautiful designs, landscapes and even underwater panoramas, one of the most dramatic effects sees the building seemingly break apart then reassemble.

Boffins at Panasonic have come up with the world’s largest permanent display of its kind, using the building as a canvas for a wide range of art accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack.

The show launched in February this year and will evolve over the months, and hopefully years, to come, continuously reworked by Panasonic AcroSign and Remotely Managed Service.

You can watch a great short video, showcasing the project here. For information, and more images, see the official website. My thanks to fellow blogger Brian D Butler, whose Travel Between The Pages is a daily must-read, for bringing the light show to my attention.
