THERE’S a real buzz about a new wildlife event coming up soon in Spalding, with visitors sure to be making a beeline to Lincolnshire.
It’s called the Bee Experience, and it does what it says on the tin, to borrow the words of the now iconic Ronseal TV adverts.
Workshop sessions at Pulvertoft Flower Barn will offer nature lovers and amateur apiarists alike an introduction to bees.

Participants can learn about honey bees, the fundamentals of beekeeping, the lifecycle of the bee and how to encourage more pollinating insects into their gardens.
Each Sunday workshop – they’re on June 9 and on August 11 – will include a talk and demonstration in the flower barn before time out in the flower field visiting the hives, and tasting honeys.

The workshops will be led by Jodie and Lee, who are third generation beekeepers, and who established Lincolnshire Honey back in 2018.
Their ethos has a strong sustainability focus, from sourcing hives locally in Lincolnshire to educating others on protecting pollinators and local biodiversity.

All materials, including protective beekeeping clothing, are provided, and light refreshments will be included.
Every attendee also gets a goody bag to take home, containing an information card about flowers to grow for bees, a bee identification chart and a jar of Lincolnshire Honey.

You have to be aged 18 or over to take part, and tickets are priced £60 a head. Other workshops offered at the Barn include painting flowers, printing and foraging.
