STRICTLY winner and wildlife champion Hamza Yassin is to host a free three-day camping break for first-timers in the heart of the rolling Worcestershire countryside.

The cameraman, author and TV presenter who captured the heart of the nation when he won Strictly with professional partner Jowita Przystał in 2022, wants to inspire people to experience and enjoy the outdoors.

The special event follows Hamza’s appointment as President of the Camping and Caravanning Club, and will run from Tuesday May 28 to Thursday May 30 at the club’s Blackmore site, near Malvern.

Spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with would-be participants having to register interest and say why they are passionate about spending more time outdoors.

A family size tent will be provided, with furniture, subject to a maximum of two adults and four children per tent. Guests will have to bring their own bedding and towels, but some meals will be provided during the break.

Hamza, who will attend the event on the Wednesday, says: “Tent camping, caravanning and motorhoming really does put you on the doorstep of the countryside and is the best way to experience the outdoors and connect with nature – and it’s good for us too.

“I’m lucky enough to travel the world and film incredible animals for people to see on their TVs. I love the joy and wonder people – especially children – express when they see wildlife they’ve never seen before.

“It’s so important we look after our natural world and allow the next generation to see its beauty. It’s my focus, whether through my TV work, my books or talks, and now in my role as the Camping and Caravanning Club’s President.”

The event will teach people of all ages outdoor skills that will help them enjoy their time in the great outdoors, including pitching a tent and nature-spotting. An itinerary will be issued to everyone attending.
