WE have all become accustomed to the playful Pixar logo that introduces hit movies such as Toy Story, Cars, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo and – most recently – Elemental.
Well, reach for your shades because the lovable Luxo Jr. lamp is about to be super-sized. It’s being turned into a giant sculpture in the lobby of the world’s first fully themed Pixar hotel.
Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, at Disneyland Resort in California, will officially become Pixar Place Hotel on January 30, 2024, the Disney Parks blog has announced.

And that lamp, which made its debut with the original Toy Story movie in 1995, will take centre-stage.
An artist’s impression reveals the Pixar Lamp balancing atop its ball, with a mobile featuring some of the studio’s best loved beloved characters ‘floating’ from the skylight above.
We’re told that the mobile will depict the ‘beginning stages’ of Pixar film-making, when animators create the characters’ designs with their most basic shapes and colours.

Disney says that the characters we’ll see are “at the beginning of their journey, just as the guests who step into the lobby begin their own story at the Disneyland Resort!”
Also just revealed is an impression of one of the newly themed guest rooms, with art created by Pixar Animation Studios artists especially for the hotel.
Keep an eye on the Disney Parks blog for updates.
