SIX years ago today, I found myself in Juneau, Alaska where I was to meet up with photographer Brian Hild to inspect the once mighty Mildenhall Glacier, then head out to sea on a whale watching expedition.
Brian, who has swapped the world’s war zones for landscapes in one of the world’s most beautiful backdrops, took us out to the glacier but on the way back, we received news that freezing fog meant we would be unable to set sail.
The silver lining in this particular cloud was the fact that the fog made Juneau look even more evocative, and I snapped this photo as we headed back down to the harbour.
