BUDDING rock star or singer-songwriter in search of inspiration? A remote Icelandic lodge hotel with its own performance stages and studio is offering guests the opportunity to record under the shimmering Northern Lights.
Eleven Deplar Farm nestles in the Fljót Valley on Iceland’s wild Troll Peninsula. The former sheep farm, with its black timber cladding and living roof, has been named one of 2023’s Best Hotels in the World on Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List.

As you’d expect, it boasts all mod cons inside, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering sensational views – but what excites music fans is the fact that it includes Flóki Studios, a recording studio outfitted with the latest digital and analog technology.

You can immerse yourself in music here. As well as the studio, Deplar Farm offers intimate stages for impromptu jam sessions and songwriting circles, record collection listening spaces, and onsite music experts to help make dreams come true.

“Enjoy private tours, live performances, record your music or take a multi-day Executive Producer experience,” suggest the owners. “Jam out with your friends on the bar’s lofted performance stage, fully equipped with instruments and a disco ball.

“Listen to your favourite hits in the lodge’s high-end listening spaces, featuring rare vinyl collections and top-of-the-line Linn record players and speakers. Throw a private party with a performance by your favourite band anywhere on property.”

The lodge is surrounded by wild waters and mountains, and the lack of light pollution makes it a prime location for stargazing the night skies and capturing the Aurora’s magic on camera. Close by, adventures include fat biking, skiing and sea kayaking.

When you just want to chill out, 13-bedroom Deplar Farm has a spa, which includes everything from a geothermal-heated indoor/outdoor pool to isopod flotation tanks and an outdoor Viking sauna. The lodge also offers wellness breaks.
