THERE are new twists and turns to cruising these days – with Carnival currently installing its third rollercoaster at sea at a shipyard in Germany.
When it launches later this year, new ship Carnival Jubilee will boast an 800ft track BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster, high up on the nineteenth deck.
Installation at the Meyer Werft shipyard is expected to be complete next month, with test runs scheduled for October ahead of the ship’s operational launch on December 23.
The track will carry two all-electric, two-person cars. Riders control the speed of the car – it’s up to 40 miles per hour – through drops, twists and turns 187 feet above the water.

BOLT is already the centrepiece of the Ultimate Playground zone on sister Excel-class ships, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, and has been a hit with more than 150,000 guests.
Carnival Jubilee will operate year-round from Galveston, sailing week-long Western Caribbean voyages, visiting destinations such as Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel.
