CHART stars Gwen Stefani, Nile Rodgers and UB40 are among A-listers rocking Britain’s mightiest medieval fortress as Warwick Castle gears up for its biggest-ever year of events.
Others include Kaiser Chiefs, Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man, Will Young and legendary Ibiza DJs in a series of shows running from May to July, with more likely to be announced.
The rock and pop gigs will be in addition to the return of the now annual Sundown Spectacular, featuring indie and club music with street food and drink, and the classical UK Battle Proms.
Meanwhile, the Castle will host major new production Return of the Trebuchet, which you can read more about here, and the return of Dragon Slayer, Wars of the Roses Live and The Falconer’s Quest.
“It’s gearing up to be our biggest year,” says marketing boss James Cheetham. “And, of course, alongside all the events we have the castle itself as our ‘hero’ attraction.”
Also returning are Zog Live!, the interactive Zog and the Quest for the Golden Star trail, and seasonal specials The Haunted Castle – around Halloween – and Christmas at the Castle, with a new look.
The music kicks off with Cafe Mambo Ibiza – Classics at the Castle on Saturday May 13, featuring Roger Sanchez, Judge Jules, Julie McKnight, Sonique, Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago, and Loeca.
Just ahead of her highly anticipated BST Hyde Park dates with Pink, former No Doubt frontwoman turned solo A-lister Gwen Stefani appears on Friday June 23.
UB40 featuring Ali Campbell are next up on Saturday June 24, supported by Aswad, Janet Kay and Carroll Thompson. Bastille have a sold-out 10th anniversary gig on Wednesday July 19.
Nile Rodgers & Chic play on Thursday July 20, with Rag’n’Bone Man on Friday July 21, the latter appearing in the castle’s courtyard, and Kaiser Chiefs play on Saturday July 22.
Will Young celebrates two decades in the charts on Saturday July 23. UK Proms In The Park takes place on Saturday September 2 and a date for Sundown Spectacular is yet to be confirmed.
