THEY’RE back! Question of Sport fan favourites Sue Barker, Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson are to reunite for a new series of talk shows with a difference – it’ll be onboard one of Britain’s best-loved cruise ships.
The trio, who left the BBC TV sports quiz in 2021 with the Beeb saying it wanted to take the show in a new direction, will set sail on a special Icons of Sport cruise.
Many fans were devastated when it was announced that long-running host Sue, and team captains Phil and Matt, would be leaving the TV quiz show, saying it was the end of an era.
They were replaced by current Question of Sport host Paddy McGuinness, and new team captains Sam Quek and Ugo Monye.
At the time, the BBC said: “We would like to thank Sue for her enormous contribution as the show’s longest-reigning host over the last 24 years, and Matt and Phil for their excellent team captaincy.
“Together they have ensured Question of Sport remains a firm favourite with the BBC One audience.”
Now, the famous threesome will be special guests in a ‘Cruise with the Stars’ programme on P&O’s Ventura, which will also include other famous faces from the worlds of sport and exploration.
P&O Cruises says the 2023 series will feature an Icons of Exploration itinerary including adventurer Ben Fogle, travel journalist Simon Calder and Monty Halls, best known for his BBC Great Escape show.
The Question of Sport trio will be joined by British snowboarding sensation and TV presenter Aimee Fuller on a seven-night Spain and Portugal sailing from Southampton on September 2, 2023.
Ben Fogle, Simon Calder and Monty Halls will join guests on a five-night cruise departing Southampton on September 19, 2023, visiting Le Havre and Rotterdam (with tours to Amsterdam).
The special appearances will be included in the price of each cruise holiday, with prices starting from £549 per person for an inside cabin. For full itineraries see www.pocruises.com.
