REGULAR readers will know that I love travel and tourism ad campaigns with a difference – and the stranger the better. But the latest outing from Vienna may well just be the one to beat them all.
The strangely surreal short film from tourism chiefs in the beautiful Austrian capital is the bizarre Belly which features – well, there are no two ways about it – a walking belly off in search of its owner.

The belly tours city landmarks including the Hotel Imperial, Schönbrunn Palace and Zoo, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Café Sacher, restaurant Das Kleine Paradies, and the Heidi Horten Collection modern art museum.

Backed by the classical strains of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and hip-hop from DJ Electric Indigo, the message at the end of the film is: “The most beautiful way to love yourself is to indulge …”

We’re told that the moral of the story is to remind everyone that travelling can be a way to treat ourselves and let loose for a few days, especially after two years of pandemic strife.
