But a new, invitation-only experience from Princess Cruises will soon transport guests nightly to the Mediterranean, no matter where in the world they’re actually sailing.

Already available on Discovery Princess, it will be rolled out to other ships, starting with Enchanted Princess in late-January.

The fully-immersive ‘360: An Extraordinary Experience’ is a new cruise dining initiative that makes most other video walls – once regarded as state-of-the-art – seem somewhat staid.

Yes, there’s 360-degree wrapround film and images in pin-sharp 4K – but that’s just for starters. The experience engages all the senses with the tastes, sights, sounds, touches and fragrances of the Med.

So what’s the fuss all about? 

Santorini

Guests booked in suite accommodation are invited to embark on the six senses journey showcasing the spectacular hilltops of Santorini, Amalfi Coast, Barcelona and Provence.

Through synchronised storytelling, imagery, music, scents, cuisine and immersive 4K visuals all around them, diners are introduced to local ingredients, artisans and culinary methods.

It all accompanies a seven-course gourmet experience including wines that emerge from the story of each destination. There are two seatings nightly, each for 20 guests.

Guests are drawn into the memories of a fellow traveller – voiced by movie star model and writer Brooke Shields – who relives her adventures and local connections made in each destination.

Brooke, whose latest project ‘Beginning Is Now’ is a global digital platform and brand inspiring women over the age of 40 to live their fullest lives, is the voice of voyager Bethany.

And although the Med takes centre stage for now, the experience is adaptable so other regions and destinations are likely to be featured in future presentations.

Note that 360 is currently available exclusively for guests booked in suites on Discovery Princess and Enchanted Princess, for guests sailing on them who book a future suite cruise on any Princess ship, or at specific onboard VIP casino and retail events.
