SEEING as we’re deep in festival season, with Glastonbury and BST Hyde Park both attracting some of rock music’s biggest names this weekend, I thought I’d add a stage picture to the Saturday Snapshot collection.
But it’s not all that it appears at first sight because this festival wasn’t staged on dry land – it was in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, somewhere between Barcelona and Palma. It was August 2019 and I was reporting on the Runaway To Paradise.
Over the course of four days, Jon Bon Jovi headlined a host of gigs featuring ten bands on board NCL’s cruise ship Norwegian Pearl, an event organised by rock and pop specialist Sixthman, who present several maritime music specials each year.
You can read about the Bon Jovi cruise in more detail in my review, with many more pix and setlist, here.
Thanks to Covid, it was the last live gig I went to for far too long, but I return to the fray tomorrow in London’s Hyde Park for a one-dayer featuring The Eagles, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Little Big Town and eight other singers and bands.
See you there.
