DISNEY has released the first video look at the big new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind rollercoaster opening later this month at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
I’ve posted news of progress of the ride a number of times over the last year but this is the first real chance to get some idea of what it will be like to ride Disney’s first reverse-launch coaster at EPCOT from May 27.
Looks Marvel-lous for Guardians fans. New official photos of the attraction are impressive, too, with the first life-size recreation of a Xandarian Starblaster ship standing outside.
After first taking in the new Wonders of Xandar pavilion at EPCOT, the plot begins to reveal itself in the pre-show before you hurtle backwards into the action in a car that rotates too.
Eson, a Celestial, has been watching Earth for eons and now intends to use a Cosmic Generator to jump back in time and change the course of humanity. Nova Prime Irani Rael commands Centurion Tal Marik, to contact the Guardians of the Galaxy and ask for their assistance (again).
You help them track down Eson, following the Celestial through a jump point on an intergalactic chase to save the galaxy. As Drax points out as you prepare for your journey: “If you can’t help stop Eson, then you are likely doomed.”
But, of course, things don’t quite go to plan. In fact, and in the best Star-Lord tradition, they don’t even go 12 percent to plan…
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the longest fully enclosed coaster in any Disney theme park and one of the longest indoor coasters in the world. It covers more than 200,000 square feet, with its main show building stretching longer than an American football field.
The attraction features more than 75 minutes of original content, and plays out to a rousing retro soundtrack that I revealed in an earlier post here.
