BLONDIE, Tears For Fears and Earth, Wind & Fire are among iconic pop acts that will be featured in the new Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.
Not the next Marvel movie, but rather the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride opening next month at Walt Disney World.
I’ve reported on progress of the ride since it was first announced, and now a six-song soundtrack of classic hits has been unveiled.
As you attempt to save the universe with Star-Lord & Co, you’ll ride to feelgood sounds headed by Blondie’s One Way Or Another.
There’s September by Earth, Wind & Fire; an apt Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears, and a spacey I Ran by A Flock Of Seagulls.
Add to the list Gloria Estefan’s infectious Conga and Disco Inferno by The Trammps and you’ll be dancing in your seats.
Disney Imagineers rode the ride time and time again as they whittled down a 100-song longlist to select the tracks for the onboard sound system.
“You won’t know which track you’ll hear each time you ride until you actually blast off with the Guardians on an intergalactic chase through time and space,” says Jeremy Schholfield, Managing Editor at Walt Disney World Resort Public Relations.
Writing on the official Disney Parks blog, he also reveals the villain of the piece: Eson, one of those giant Celestials we saw in The Eternals movie.
“Eson is huge. And powerful. And ancient,” says Jeremy. “And he seems poised to grab our pretty blue planet in one hand and slam dunk us like a basketball!”
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens at EPCOT on May 27 as I previously posted here and here. It’s a major milestone in the park’s transformation and part of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration.
The gang, along with pal Thor, next return to the big screen in Thor: Love & Thunder in July.
