MADEIRA is a beautiful island, and now there’s a roof with a view at the latest hotel to open in Funchal.

The rooftop pool at the new NEXT Hotel, part of the Savoy Signature group, looks out over the Atlantic Ocean.

Just a short walk from the Old Town, these pictures show how the hotel has built in the ‘wow’ factor for guests.

And with Madeira currently on the UK’s green list for travel, owners are hoping to woo holidaymakers back this summer.

Alongside the pool, the aptly named Cloud Bar offers those views, and takes on a different ambience at night.

The Recharge Restaurant and Bar, with a Hawaiian take on the menu, also boasts exceptional views.

Meanwhile, The Spa offers ‘forest therapy’ and has partnered with sustainable beauty brand Comfort Zone. There are three treatment rooms, a sauna, Turkish bath, ice fountain and gym.

Throughout the hotel, industrial finishes and immersive art installations are set against the backdrop of the ocean, complete with direct access to the sea.

A comprehensive hotel app will be available to guests to help plan work, rest and play customising each stay.

Madeira was named Best Island Destination at the World Travel Awards, and boasts a mild climate and sea with pleasant temperatures all year round.

The island’s mountains, valleys and cliffs have been awarded Natural Heritage of Humanity status by UNESCO.
