Stunning drone pictures spotlight private Caribbean island wellness week

YEARNING for sunshine, sand and good health after the dark days of the pandemic? Then these stunning pictures will surely brighten your day.

Shot on Jumby Bay Island in the Caribbean, they look ahead to international travel barriers coming down and a special Wellness Week this Autumn.

The private island resort, part of the Oetker Collection, is off the coast of Antigua and will host the week-long special break from November 10 to 17.

Ringed with coral reefs and reachable only by boat, with no cars in sight, this island of white-powdered beaches and winding bicycle paths is a one-of-a-kind hideaway.

The 300-acre secluded island features 28 suites, 14 luxury villas and 22 private residences spread across its beautiful expanse, two miles off Antigua.

Just steps away from the beaches, each suite offers spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.

Designed in collaboration with luxury travel specialists Paper & Diamond, ‘A Journey Through the Senses’ will offer guests a custom itinerary featuring daily culinary workshops, meditation, movement, mindfulness, breathwork and more.

Here’s how a sample day might run:

New Moon Meditation: As the New Moon rises, there’ll be a meditation ceremony and Crystal Alchemy Sound Bath, so guests can relax deeply and recharge from day one.

Chakra Invitational: The Hatha practice of breathwork, opens the body’s chakras – the seven energy centres – to create balance.

Self Care: A restorative spa session including a full body volcanic ash and clay mask, followed by a CBD Epsom salt and botanical oil soak, and a guided journal session.

Hacking Your Microbiome: Offering tangible ways to improve microbiome health that can affect mood and mental health, energy levels, sensitivity to particular foods, and autoimmune symptoms.

Feeling vs Seeing: This will immerse guests in a full sensorial experience, practising floor yoga and stretch poses while blindfolded, thinking via feeling rather than seeing.

CBD Cooking Instructional: Showing creative ways to integrate tinctures into recipes, while further teaching about its health benefits, dosage recommendations and take-home tips.

Dinner at The Farm: As the sun sets, visitors will savour local island flavours at dinner on Jumby Bay’s farm.  Working with local farmers, The Farm presents seasonal culinary workshops.

Moonlight Sound Bath & Catamaran Cruise Intention Ceremony: A  Sound Bath on the beach, followed by an Intention Ceremony aboard the resort’s private catamaran.

In addition to the full itinerary, the Paper & Diamond wellness team will be breaking out into private sessions with guests, including   reiki crystal sound healing, nutrition coaching, stretch and mobility sessions, mindful mixology workshops and kundalini yoga.

After all that, you might need a rest!

Rates for Jumby Bay Island’s A Journey Through the Senses wellness retreat start from around £2,590 based on double occupancy, including suite accommodation, ferry transfer, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks, juices and drinking water.

The price also covers daily nutritional, movement and mindfulness sessions, healthy mixology classes, wine tastings and a 75-minute customised spa journey ancient healing techniques.
